Sophia Urista has a voice and presence with more power than a supercharged V12 engine. Her song “Here Now” is a heartfelt ballad, and in this session at Paste Studios, it inspires creative mixologist Matt Levy to make a cocktail that epitomizes the spice, smokiness, and sweetness of Urista herself. Combining Fernet-Branca, mescal, sweet vermouth, and fired citrus, the drink indeed embodies this siren and her smoldering voice.

Hailing from the Motor City, Urista currently resides in New York City and performs regularly across the five boroughs. After being a Top 20 contestant on NBC’s The Voice in 2016, she has gone on to collaborate with artists and evolve her music. Right now she’s working on her first album — stay tuned for a release date! Until then, get a taste of Urista’s talent in this special Per La Mente performance.
