Fernet-Branca Barback Games 2017

Scott Heins | Carly Pifer | October 9, 2017
They came, they competed, they drank Fernet-Branca.

The skills of a barback include, but are not limited to: dodging revelers, expertly arranging bottles, pouring rows and rows of shots, and carrying colossal buckets of ice to and fro — and doing it all while remaining stable and sane enough not to spill a drop.

All these skills were put to the test at the New York Fernet-Branca Barback Games 2017. Barbacks from all around the city converged at a popular haunt to flex their muscles and finesse their lime slicing.

The gladiators braved an obstacle course of tires to complete each challenge, but in the end, only a few rose to fame and glory:

  • Third place went to Alavaro Castillo
  • Second place went to Luca Forgeois
  • And the winner, in first place, was Granit Kastrati

Check out the photos and relive your barbacking days with the best in New York.
